San Jose Unified School District sought a partner to implement the Strategic Plan of its Health and Welfare Benefits Board. Claremont Partners collaborated with the long-time benefits consultant to accelerate the District’s adoption and implementation of a new approach to employee health.

The Health and Welfare Benefit Board had been formed through collective bargaining, but had to make crucial decisions about infrastructure needed to accomplish its mission. Supported by Claremont, the Board took a new look at the following topics:

  • Periodic review and assessment of vendors, with expectations and success criteria

  • Pre-flight checklists for benefit design changes and evaluation of participant satisfaction

  • Creating an engaging employee wellness program, including establishing Board members and District leaders as ambassadors

  • Best practices for getting the word out about important benefit changes in a world of information overload

Claremont Partners reports to the Health and Welfare Board monthly on the implementation of the Board’s strategic vision for employee health and affordable benefits.
